Two more approaches

Otras dos aproximaciones a la maniobra tabú del windsurfista, el forward loop. Tras varios intentos sigo acercándome a conseguirlo, pero aún me queda un trecho por recorrer. Contrariamente a mucha literatura que he leído sobre el tema, no se trata sólo de vencer el miedo y lanzarse a la maniobra. Quizá sea eso, atreverse, lo más importante. Pero además hace falta seguir unas pautas técnicas que nos van a permitir mayor probabilidad de éxito. Aquí tenéis dos puntos de vista más sobre el particular. Sigo empeñado en sacar la maniobra. Éste año puede que las posibilidades de éxito sean mayores, creo que estoy muy cerca. Dani y Adrián, unos amigos que ya rotan el forward, se han prestado a ayudarnos. Solamente por eso ya la motivación aumenta mucho. El martes pasado conseguí vencer el miedo - ó la comodidad- y realizar dos intentos, infructuosos. Creo que el fallo estuvo en que no miré hacia la mano de atrás, la que caza la vela, sino que dirigí mi vista hacia delante, hacia el agua, y ya se sabe que uno acaba yendo hacia donde está mirando. Es un fallo que puede corregirse, así que solo queda volver a intentarlo con renovados ánimos el próximo día de viento fuerte...

I am again into the forward loop battle. Motivation is high again, as I'm not alone in the fight, some friends have offered their help and have encouraged me to try again. So I've done some attempts, but  I have not completed the move so far. I am pretty confident that my mistake has been no to have looked back after the jump. That's a mistake easy to solve, so I have to keep trying next high wind day...

Nueva tarde de SW en Caranza, lo extraño de ésto es que estamos en el mes de Julio y el nordeste sigue brillando por su ausencia. Viento para velas de entre 5 y 6m, choppy, llovizna, condiciones típicas caranceiras vamos. Navegué con la SSS Sirocco 5.7 y la Fanatic Goya de 87 litros, con la que vuelvo a encontrarme más cómodo tras usarla en Santa Comba. Os dejo aquí unas fotos de los "sufridos" protagonistas de hoy, y de propina, un video de autoayuda.

Another SW windy afternoon, we sailed well powered up on our 5 to 6 m sails. Used my small wave board and the Sirocco 5.7, a good combo for medium wind days. Don't miss these forward loop tips...

Welcome 2012

El nuevo año parece que empieza bien, espero que no solo traiga viento sino también nuevas oportunidades para todos los que están pasándolo mal con la dichosa crisis. Para mí el año empezó bien, reuní el valor de lanzarme al speed loop tres veces, hacia el final de la sesión. Hice la rotación, pero perdí la tabla por el camino,  así que a seguir practicando...pero otro día, que ahora tengo la espalda fina de las costaladas.
Ambientazo en el Club. Da gusto ver lo envenenada que está la peña, que procura a toda costa no perderse los días buenos. Hasta Papá Noel se animó a navegar. ¡Buen viento amigos!

The new year seems to come loaded with wind. Hope it will bring good news not only for us windsurfers, but for all the people that are having bad times nowadays. For me the year starts well, as I have been lucky to sail today, and it was windy enough to plane with 5.0, so I said to myself, man, its a new year, you have to go for it. So I found some courage inside of me and launched myself into three speed loop attempts. I rotated the three times but the board didnt come all the way around with me. But I'm happy as it seems I've left my fears behind. Great vibes at the Club too, with Santa Claus making a visit. Good wind mates!
